Before you buy, look out for
The odometer reads less than the test?
Something does not add up. Ask why, and maybe walk away.
Leasing or rental?
Usually a lot of km a year. Not a reason to walk away, but it explains it.
Many owners in a short time?
Ask why everyone sells it.
An open recall?
No reason to walk away. Have the seller fix it at the importer, for free.
What the registries cannot see
Engine faults, and codes the seller cleared the day before. Those show with an OBD-II adapter, in the app's pre-purchase check.
Frequently asked
How do I check a car by its licence plate?
Type the plate number at the top and press Check. The data comes from the Ministry of Transport's open registries (data.gov.il).
Does it cost anything?
No, and there is no sign-up. It is free in the app too.
How do I know how many owners the car had?
The check shows the number of owners and the ownership history. Dealers are not counted. Some cars have no history in the registry, and then it says unknown.
How do I check whether a car has a recall?
The check lists open recalls. The importer fixes them at no charge.
